Autodesk 3ds max 2015 extension 2 skin#
I'd also like to reiterate something that has been mentioned before, why not pick a couple of the small anoying things and work on them for every extension and major release, you know like a side project(I know adobe does a similar thing, they have a name for it), tbh the way you refuse to further enhance some newly added features, or upgrade very old features is becoming noticable to say the least, adding DQ to skin was one in a long list, although a big one nonetheless.

Nice work, I actually wished for a sequencer in Max in the previous blog post, so this was a pleasant surprise, but I'm really curious to know how complete of an integration it is.ĭQ should be helpful but please don't call it a day for skinning and deformables, Max has fallen behind in that area over the years, specially softbodies, speaking of which, don't you guys wanna update the Physx engine? we are again falling behind on that front, Max really needs better softbody interactions, for one softbody particles would be really nice. As a new option in the Skin modifier, Dual Quaternion lets you paint the amount of influence skinning will have on a surface, so you can use it where you need it and taper off to linear skin weighting where you don't.Įxtension 2 is expected to be available on or after December 17th just in time for the holidays, so if you're a Subscription customer (Maintenance or Desktop aka rental), watch for it on the Subscription center. Most common in a character?s shoulders or wrists, this new method of smooth skinning helps reduce undesirable deformation artifacts. Sm ooth skinning is made better with the addition of Dual Quaternion, built specifically to avoid "bow tie" or "candy wrapper" effects where the mesh loses volume when deformers are twisted or pivoted. This new feature allows you to easily cut between multiple cameras, trim, and reorder animated clips nondestructively leaving the original animation data unchanged. Telling great stories with high-quality animated visualizations, animatics, and cinematics is now easier with the new Camera Sequencer, giving designers and animators even more control. If you use SketchUp, you can now take your design further in 3ds Max by importing your SketchUp 2014 files. In addition to the existing Revit File Link workflow, Extension 2 features a new Revit importer that allows you to import data up to 10x faster and with much cleaner geometry. Importing design data to quickly create high-quality stills and animation is now easier than ever.Ī tighter Revit integration makes importing models into 3ds Max faster and easier.

Inspired by our years of professional experience with Revit and Autodesk? Inventor? software (and Revit and Inventor workflows), the new Design Workspace follows a task-based workflow with easy access to object placement, lighting, rendering, modeling and texturing tools in 3ds Max/3ds Max Design. Built-in settings for rendering, environments, lighting and units translate into faster, more accurate results. You can also create new templates or modify existing ones and custom-tailor them for your individual workflows. With easy import/export options, you can quickly share templates across teams and offices. New on-demand templates provide you with standardized start-up configurations, which help accelerate the scene creation process. Extension 2 also features new tools that will speed up the animation and skinning process, so there is something for everyone. Whereas Extension 1 included many features that fit the workflows that a SIGGRAPH attendee may focus on, Extension 2 fits an AU theme with tools that will help architects, engineers and designers work with more confidence and efficiency in 3ds Max (and 3ds Max Design). There was also the opportunity to get highly requested functionality to you as fast as possible. When we considered the timing and bundling of these multiple releases, we had the unique opportunity to tailor the offerings to correspond to the events we were using to announce them with. We are dedicated to bringing you more functionality and value as fast as we can, which is why we are providing, for the first time ever, this second extension for Subscription customers.Īs you may all know, 3ds Max is popular across many different industries, from games, to architecture, industrial design and vfx. It all started at SIGGRAPH, and I'm extremely happy that it now continues here at Autodesk University in Las Vegas with our announcement of Extension 2 for 3ds Max and 3ds Max Design.
